IT'S JUST HER,
AND HER PLANTS

MEET THE MAKER
Kris has always had a deep love for all living things.
As a little girl, her family would often find her counting the petals of peonies, using all her senses to explore their beauty. Her grandmother, Mary, once introduced her to false indigo seeds—unaware that Kris would soon be cracking them open and scattering them throughout the yard. From potions to perfumes, her childhood was filled with endless creations. When she wasn’t experimenting with plants, she could be found tending to her father’s wax worms during the short window she was allowed.

Her early fascinations naturally blossomed into a career in the healing arts. In 2005, she opened A Table for One, a petite spa she created as a space for restoration and connection. There, her strong hands and inquisitive mind found a home. In 2020, her studies took her deep into the forests of Belize to learn Maya abdominal healing with Rosita Arvigo and Eva Sengfelder—an experience that left a lasting impression and became a meaningful milestone in her lifelong journey of learning and sharing.

Central America taught Kris that working with plants is a partnership. Once she understood that the relationship is built through touch, she turned her attention to the flora of her own region. In 2022, she apprenticed under Jessie Belden, who introduced her to Western herbalism and the abundance of her local landscape. Goldenrod soon became her first great fascination—and the inspiration behind Goldenrod Apothecary. The flower’s warm, golden glow now shines through many of the products she creates.
